That is a tough question to answer before we have a chance to talk with you. This is because each system is customized to your specific needs and to your RV. We like to give our customers options. Both so you get the system you want now, and so if your needs change in the future we can easily upgrade your system to meet those needs. Designing systems this way may result in a slightly higher cost upfront, but will save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in the future if you decide to upgrade. A system from S3 RV Solar probably won't be the cheapest you will find. This is because we only build high quality off-grid systems that you will be able to depend on for years to come. At S3 RV Solar we will never install anything in your RV that we wouldn't install in our own.
Yes! "But for how long?" is the real question here. A system with a 3000va inverter will run most RV air conditioners. Larger A/C's will also need a soft start module installed to help with the large amount of current needed when the compressor starts. There are many variables that determine how long you will be able to operate the A/C. The size of the A/C, size of your solar array, size of your battery bank, the temperature outside, the amount of sunlight you get in a day, and how well your RV is insulated, all play a role. We can help you to answer this question and to decide if running your A/C from your batteries is feasible or an affordable option for you.
If solar panels are part of your off-grid system plans then the answer is "Yes". The solar panels will be securely attached to your RV's roof with screws or anchors. We will also drill a hole and install an entry gland to run the solar wires into the RV. We take great care to make sure that every hole we put in your roof is properly sealed to prevent leaks. We use butyl tape under each mounting foot and then seal the foot with a liberal amount of Dicor roof sealant. All RV sealants require maintenance. They should be inspected often and serviced as recommended by the manufacturer.
Once you have approved our quote we will order the components needed for your installation. Once all the components are received we will schedule an appointment for you to bring your RV to us for the installation. Most installations take about one week to complete and test. We will be in communication with you and will keep you informed of progress during the entire process.
